Blyde River Canyon – Exclusive – 7 Days (6 Nights)

This is the ultimate Blyde River Canyon expedition. Especially for people who want to explore the Blyde River Canyon from all sides. A unique photographic experience at one of the most iconic locations in Southern Africa.

One of the most photogenic landscape photography destinations in South Africa is the Blyde River Canyon. Located in the province of Mpumalanga it forms part of the Drakensberg mountain range on the escarpment between Mpumalanga and the Limpopo province. The Blyde River Canyon is the world’s 3rd deepest canyon but the greenest of them all.

There are a lot of public viewpoints along the top of the Canyon but to be able to shoot there at the best possible times of the day can be a bit of a challenge as these viewpoints are usually not open during the best times to shoot the canyon. On this photography expedition, we will take you to some of the best possible spots on the top of the Canyon as well as on the bottom and on the Mariepskop mountain.

One of the highlights of the expedition is a flight over the canyon in a helicopter. If weather permits the doors will be taken off for the flight to allow unrestricted views for the photographers. You will be able to get unique photos from above and see the canyon in a way that few people get to experience.

Also included is a boat trip on the Blyde Dam, and a photographic tour at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre where you will be able to photograph cheetahs, Wild Dogs, Vultures etc.

We host this expedition in May as this is the time of year when the canyon is still very green, rivers are flowing, and the weather and cloud formations are great for shooting unique landscape photos. There are also fewer chances of rain in May.
